In November, members of the LGE team traveled to portions of West Virginia, including Charleston, the state capitol.
Back in September, the state landed on our renewable energy radar when Governor Jim Justice announced a $500M investment to build a global aerospace manufacturing hub powered by a renewable energy microgrid.
In the same month, it was announced that the Appalachian Climate Technology (ACT Now) coalition of West Virginia was one of 21 winners of the $1 billion Build Back Better Regional Challenge.
The challenge is expected to yield a hub of clean energy and green economy jobs intended for 21 economically distressed and coal-impacted counties in southern West Virginia.
West Virginia is the second-largest coal producer in the country and the seventh-largest natural gas-producing state in the nation. Coal-fired power plants account for almost all of West Virginia's electricity generation.
