In October, LGE was on the ground in Columbus, just days before the Ohio Power Siting Board approved a plan to build a 250-megawatt solar energy facility on about 2,400 acres of land in western Franklin County.
We joined a host of Mid-west politicos and policy makers to discuss the intersetions between civic engagement and the economic benefits of the emerging green industry.
The solar project, known as Pleasant Prairie Solar, promises to provide enough energy to power 45,000 homes annually, according to developers (Chicago-based Invenergy).
In terms of energy output, the project is about five times the size of the Columbus Solar Park, a 50-megawatt facility planned for a former landfill near the intersection of I-71 and I-270.
