In late October, leadership from WMPR radio out of Jackson, extended an offer to have LGE share weekly commentary on current energy, environment, and public policy topics.
Both historic and iconic, WMPR 90.1 FM dates back to 1983 when it began as a small operation. Today, the station is recognized for its 100,000 Watts of power and is known as "The Voice of the Community."
WMPR offers a range of programming with a reach that extends into parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee. Their talk show- styled programming, purposely scheduled during peak listening times, is centered around educating and informing the public in and around the Jackson Metropolitan area and the state of Mississippi.
The late James Charles Evers, former mayor of Fayette, MS, and disc jockey in Philadelphia, MS, served as the general manager of WMPR for thirty years. He was the brother of civil rights leader Medgar Evers.
